IEC – Volunteerism Scholarship Award
At Islington Evangel Centre we Love God, Love People and Make Disciples. It is this belief that we base our newest Scholarship Award which was launched in 2020.
The recipient will be the type of person who chooses to spend their free time helping out others. They probably already know about some of the benefits of this type of work; they get to make a positive impact in their church community while getting life experience that will help them develop as a person. Here at IEC we value individuals who we think will make a difference in the world, and providing a scholarship to students who have dedicated their time to improving the lives of others is one way we can contribute to those changes.
The Scholarship Team is heavily interested in what you have done so far as an indicator of what you will do in the future.
This Volunteer Scholarship is for students who have volunteered within one or more Ministries at IEC. There are no particular restrictions on the kind of work you do for the IEC family, but you should be able to demonstrate long-term commitment along with qualities like leadership, communication and teamwork.
Eligible students will:
- Be enrolled in post-secondary education at an accredited educational facility and eligible to return in the upcoming school year;
- Have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer or community outreach work with a Ministry(ies) at IEC in a 24-month period ending December 31st of the year prior to the award being given;
- Volunteer hours must be accumulated from one or more different ministries;
- Have a letter of recommendation from the Ministry Leader(s) and one other person whom they have impacted by their volunteerism
- This scholarship is separate from the IEC and Community Scholarships offered annually. Recipients may receive both scholarships.
To apply, please send a letter to education@iecfamily.com outlining how you meet the eligibility requirements and what impact volunteering at IEC has had on you. Please be sure to submit letters from the relevant Ministry Leader(s) whose ministry you have volunteered with. The letter should include the number of hours and the types of volunteer activities you have performed. You must also include your Volunteer Tracking Sheet.
Volunteer hours being considered this year will be for activities completed from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023.
