We encourage you to pursue all avenues to securing funding for your future endeavours.
Here is some information we feel will be helpful to you in completing any scholarship application.
First you should understand the different kinds of financial aids – document attached:
- Scholarships (5 types)
- Bursaries (you may have to disclose financial information)
- Grants (similar to scholarships and you may have to pay back)
Be sure to check out the Financial Aid sections of school websites.
There are several Canadian Scholarships and Awards along with Scholarships specifically for Black students that you might want to explore. Review to see which ones might apply to you.
The one important thing we can’t stress enough is MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE the application forms in their entirety and submit by deadline and make sure all requested documents are attached. This may include an application letter or essay – we have enclosed a draft outline for you.
Given the current state of affairs, the IEC Scholarship Team knows that you may not have up to date grades available; please include the most recent grades that you have. Should you be successful, this will be on a conditional basis until such time as you are able to provide your final grades to us.
Enclosed also is a document with some possible questions you will find on an application or in an interview. Please review the documents as we know they will be helpful to you with the IEC Scholarship and/or any other scholarship, bursary or grant you choose to apply for.
